Can We Still Plant in Late Summer?

planting something in the dirt

We do get that question, is it okay to plant in this heat? We get that a lot.

Really, anything’s gonna do better in the ground than in the pot, but you just have to watch more with watering in the heat. I’m watering my stuff every day right now.

With soil and sun conditions all that, it is a great time to plant, you just kind of have to baby it a little bit through the heat. if you’re gonna plant bushes like now for the fall, or get those bushes in before the winter comes, absolutely yeah, you can plant until the ground freezes.

The longer it has to be established the better.

You can put some all-season fertilizer in there when you plant to get it going quicker. You can use Hollytone as well.  There’s a lot of different types of fertilizer that you can use, but using like a neutral base. All season fertilizer is always a good idea to kind of like lay down a little bit of a foundation. Right now yeah, it’s hot, but you know as long as you keep on the watering and baby it you can plant whenever. You just got to keep an eye on it, and think of how much you want to be doing right now.
