Fig Tree Grew too Big to Bring Inside!

Another question from Al, and he asks, “well, you know this weather’s been crazy tropical this year. That’s where the plants are seven eight feet, tall, everything is crazy now. My fig tree, I talk about that and it’s tripled okay, tripled.

I think this is the year I do not believe I can bring it in the house so I am going to try, and I’ve talked to you guys about it before, to bury it. I don’t know, my garage is not heated, I don’t want to lose it. This thing’s been around ten years with me. I don’t want to lose it. So what?”

I think that burying it is the best thing to do if you have to keep it outside. I mean even though your garage isn’t heated that still might protect it more. So you’d almost treat it like you would when bringing it in the house, but allow it to go dormant and just water it a couple times in the season so that soil doesn’t dry out too much.

But all in all if you’re keeping it outside, burying it is the best thing to do. Build up a fence around it, and put leaves and and all that around to insulate it. I’m sure you’re gonna take good care of it whatever you do. I’m sure it’ll be just fine.
