In my years of working with people to establish quality turf and control many of its problems, I have come across many misconceptions people have about lawn establishment and control.
Misconception number 2: Finding a few grubs in the lawn requires immediate action with a harsh insecticide.
Although this may be true in September or October, most other times of the year this is not necessary.
The lawn should be treated only if there are more than seven to ten grubs per square foot. Even then, if weather conditions are good (sufficient rain), the turf may still be able to sustain itself. If animals begin digging through the grass to get to the grubs, treatment may be required.
