More On Bubbling Rock Water Features & Set Up

These are some pictures of some water garden features we’ve got there at the nursery. It’s adding water to an outdoor sitting area. It just adds this level of tranquility. People are always looking for easy ways to add that without putting a big pond in or a big waterfall, something simple. And so we have these bubbling rock features, and it’s really easy.
You basically dig the square hole, the basin goes down in the hole and then everything’s plug and play with the system. Fill with water and plug it in. The cords on those are actually 20 feet, which is also very nice.
And if you’re further away from the electric than 20 feet, these are all very low wattage draw pumps. So they’re not going to really add much to your electric bill. Most of them are under 20, 30 watts. So you’re like a refrigerator light bulb. I mean, they’re very, very low wattage.
You can actually plug an extension cord into them and then paint liquid electrical tape around that extension cord connection and it makes a waterproof seal. And then you could extend that cord to be even longer.
And we do talk about the bubbling rocks a lot, but we can do it with a pot too. So you know, you have an old pot or something like that, we’ll drill a hole. We’ve got a specialized drill design for drilling ceramic and we’ll drill a hole in the bottom and put a bulkhead on it. And then there’s a stand pipe that comes up through the center of the pot. And that’s what causes that jet of water you’re seeing in the picture.
And water going into water creates very little splash. Water under rocks creates a significant amount of splash. So the more splash you have, the more evaporation you have, the more you’re going to have to fill it up.
