Natural Privacy (Fences)
The use of live plants to create privacy structures and/or outdoor rooms
Most common plants used:
Evergreens: provide year-long protection
- Arborvitae
- Blue Spruce
- Norway Spruce
- Hemlock
Deciduous trees allow for more variety including spring flowers and fall color, but do not provide a screen all year long
Typically planted in a straight line, staggered, or serpentine
When designed properly:
- enhances the property
- blocks out unattractive views
- creates & provides privacy from street traffic and neighbors
- reduces outside noises
- can create an area protected from elements such as wind and snow
