Poinsettias – Keeping Them Healthy Through Winter

How do we get that to stay good and nice all the way through Christmas?
One of the main things is to make sure it dries out, or allow it to dry out in between waterings, because you can over water very easily. We almost let them get to the point where they’re just starting to kind of wilt, so you definitely want that soil to be dry to the touch.
Keep it away from a drafty area and don’t let it touch a cold window, because they don’t like the cold. They’re native to Mexico, so they don’t like the cold at all. Also try to keep it away from the heat vents as well because that can also dry it out a little bit more and kind of crisp up the leaves.
Keep it away from your pets too, I have heard that they’re not actually poisonous, I mean they would have to eat an actual large amount but it isn’t irritant. Better safe than sorry.
We’ve got red and white and just so many beautiful different varieties of poinsettias. We’ve got the speckled ones, the red ones, the white ones, the pink ones. The speckled ones, those are one of my favorites.
