Description
The Whitespire Birch, or Betula papyrifera ‘J. Whitespire’, is a captivating addition to any garden, known for its brilliant white bark that stands out year-round. This elegant tree can grow to a height of 40-50 feet, with a spread of 20-30 feet, making it perfect for creating a picturesque backdrop in larger yards. Its dark green leaves transition to a stunning yellow in the autumn, providing a beautiful seasonal display.
Caring for the Whitespire Birch is straightforward, as it thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained, acidic to neutral soil. While it is moderately drought-tolerant, regular watering will ensure the tree maintains its health and vibrant appearance. One of its standout features is its resistance to the Bronze Birch Borer, making it a low-maintenance option for homeowners.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Whitespire Birch can enhance your landscape with its graceful form and striking bark, creating a focal point that draws the eye. Its ability to withstand urban conditions makes it suitable for various settings, from suburban gardens to city backyards.
Birch trees have a rich history of use in traditional crafts and construction, adding an element of historical charm to your garden. By choosing the Whitespire Birch, you’re not only investing in a tree that offers beauty and resilience but also a piece of botanical history.
