Spring is a great time to fertilize, especially with “young” trees and shrubs.
As the plants come out of winter dormancy, they need a boost to give the needed nutrients to develop new growth.
When applying a granular fertilizer, spread around the “drip line”. Be sure to water the plant after the fertilizer is applied. This will help get the nutrients to the roots.
